Риск, принимаемый на себя экспортером на случай, если его зарубежный контрагент откажется по каким-либо причинам от оплаты закупленного товара. Финансовый риск относится чисто к коммерческой сфере деятельности и не связан с такими политическими условиями, как, например, экспроприация собственности импортера или неконвертируемость валюты страны-покупателя.
